Yeah, it doesn't sound like an issue with the codes or the GameShark 2 disc. I have an older version GameShark 2 (V 1.2) and it wouldn't work at all with my Greatest Hits copy of Final Fantasy XII. But at least the game did load and play every time, even though the codes weren't working the way they were supposed to (because they were modifying the wrong memory addresses, since the Greatest Hits version disc is different than the original version). If it's not a scratched game disc (check the top of the disc for scratches, too, as those are the easiest to miss and practically impossible to fix), then it's likely an issue with your PS2, such as a dusty laser lens or possibly a malfunction (remember, modding your PS2 is fun, but can cause a lot of wear and tear on it, like making your drive motor die). Anyway, does the game load just fine when you don't use the GameShark 2? Which version GameShark 2 are you using and which version of the game do you have (original, Collector's Edition, or Greatest Hits)? It's a great game and I'd never criticize anyone for cheating on it. It seriously doesn't ruin the fun. Even at level 99 and with a Tournesol, Circlet, Grand Armor, and Genji Gloves on Vaan, I still managed to get killed by Hell Wyrm the first time I fought it. So by the end of the game, all your cheating makes little difference.
