PS2 with PS1 gameshark

Ok...I am wanting to buy a gameshark for my PS1 game Silent Hill...because I'm stuck at a boss with no health stuff and no ammo....and my save was right before the boss...so I'm stuck. I was wondering if a PS2 gameshark would do PS1 game codes...if not I have a PS1 in my closet but I need to know what gameshark to get for it. I have seen so many gamesharks I'm not sure which to get, I don't want to spend money and it be the wrong one. What gameshark would work for a PS1 game on either the PS2 or PS1??
