Seriously. What is with this game? I thought it was supposed to be this great game with superb story telling and all that jazz but really....is it nothing more than a wandering simulator with sparse bits of story thrown in here and there. I don't get it. This is the second time I have tried to give this game a chance and either I'm broken or this game just is not that fun at all.

It is a nice looking game, don't get me wrong, and it has some interesting characters, but gah....it is so friggin boring. After killing the 200th mole rat or vicious dog or giant super mutant orc lookin thing, while wandering about trying to figure out wtf I am supposed to be going, I started yelling at my TV.

Sure I have about 4 or 5 quests I need to currently do, but it's a toss up of boring quest 1, boring quest 2, frustrating quest 3 because you need to go to this place you can see on your map, but can't for the life of you figure out how to get around the oh so conveniently placed piles of rocks between you and the building you need to be in. So I go from quest to quest, semi conscious and then get killed because I stole some Ghouls box of dandy Apples.

Maybe I just need to give it more time, but damn, how much time do you really need to give a game before you completely give up on it?

I know! That's what I don't get. It's supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread but I have no love for it what so ever. I want to, I want to play it, but I just ...can't...get...into...it.

I agree. It is me. lol.

Maybe it's the cross of RPG and FPS elements? Most fans of each genre I know love one and hate the other. If someone likes FPSs, they'll want to play an FPS, not an RPG. And vice-versa for RPGs. I kind of found myself in the same situation in TF2 when they introduced achievements to unlock new weapons, which were pretty much grinding. If I wanted to grind, I'd play an MMORPG.

Sometimes I feel that modern games are trying to do too many things at once. I still love simple fun, the games I'm playing the most lately are the old Mega Man games for the NES and SNES.

But then again, maybe it's just you.

You do have a point,Mass Effect is a TPS RPG and its had mixed feelings since it came out and yet i bet some still play it. I know i do. In this day and age RPG's are getting mixed with other types of games. Anyways some people seem to resent these types of RPG hybrids and crave the turned based RPG's of old.

I thought Mass Effect was fantastic. I'm working on my second playthrough now.

I want my RPG's like the old days of Baldurs Gate, the original, not that abortion that it became where you hack and slash everything. I miss those games :(

Actually theres light at the end of this tunnel,co CEO of Bioware Ray Muzyka said the new upcoming Dragon Age Origins will be the spiritual successor to Baldurs Gate. And thats my point, you like RPG's of old and so this is like a long lasting big change that some old school gamers still cant get over.

I was like this with Morrowind. I played once, didn't like it. Played it amonth later still didn't like it. 6 months later, finally got a sword then I died before I could save, still didn't like it. Then eventually my uncle started talking about it again and I gave it one last try, and I didn't stop trying for months.

I was like that too with Oblivion. I thought that maybe the guns and apocalyptic setting would be more up my alley. Apparently not.

Picked this up last weekend and i got around the story, but wow is it rather tough to survive if you dont have enought gear or the right gear and the right skills. Only thing about this game i dont like is the constant need to repair your weapons after while. Also with Dogmeat it kinda reminds me a of a post apoc Fable 2.

Your not the only one. This game pissed me off as well, I couldn't find anything fun about it besides going into the vaults and blowing the heads off of the people in there. But eventually that got boring as well, and getting killed all the time wasn't helping my view of the game.
It seems like a great game don't get me wrong. But it's just not my style of a game. I like the games that make you slowly unravel the story, not make you guess what the hell is going on. The only thing that I understood through the game was that he left to go look for his dad.
But anyways, this game was a dissapointment in my eyes and I returned about a month after I bought it.

Thats the whole flaw is that you can go straight the Rivit City area and complete half of the game, But the thing is that it wouldnt be a good fight if you at lvl 1-3 when you first leave 101,you'd die in one shot by raiders or super mutants with gatling guns. I did heading to tenpenny tower nearing Robo Co. Dont expect to take on everything that comes at you and win as soon as you leave Vault 101,you need to lvl up and pick the right perks that will help you surive, such as the animal friend perk which stops all animals from attacking you and at higher lvls they attack anyone that attacks you. He\her go to look for their dad only to find out why he left, during all that the Enclave return and make alot of trouble. Plus its always good to have a partner, dogmeat isnt the best but he's good first starting out untill you get the chances for jericho, charon, clover, butch, that one robot or a super mutant named fawkes.
