I have been trying to get my USB pendrive to work with my Gameshark but to no avail. I will explain what happens. I got the codes for Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec flash drive and I plugged it into the ps2 (slim). I am on the main menu and nothing happens. One thing I do notice is the LED is flashing on the pen drive, which is solid (not flashing) when it's plugged into my PC.

I have a U3 drive, (which I think may be the problem).

http://www.memorex.c...D=209&opento=12

That is the exact model I have. If that is the problem is there anything I can use instead of a pendrive? Like can I use my PSP to transfer the files? Internet connection is impossible because they are in different rooms and I don't have a long enough cable.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, if it isn't please tell me.

Never having used a USB drive with PSP to get codes or game saves, there is not much I can say.

First off, you might want to give this guide a try. It tells you which USB drives are compatible with PSP.

This guide here explains how to fix your network configurations that might be set improperly. It will explain how to set up the online connection.

This is the PS2 General FAQ that provide whole lots of information regarding different situations.

I will now move this thread to the right area.

Ok, It says the PSP with USB cable is compatible with Gameshark 2 v1.X. So I thought it should work with Gameshark 2 v1.3. I plug in the PSP, with the Gran file (Gran Turismo 3) and the gameshark freezes for about 3-5 seconds, and nothing happens, and it just keeps running, like nothing happened. Any ideas?

EDIT: Another thing I noticed, the cd says my gameshark is: Gameshark 2 v1.3. But when I check the save file on my memory card it says: Gameshark 2 v5. Is there any way to figure out which version it is?

Does your computer recognize your PSP? If it doesn't then try this.
The first thing you need to do is get your PC to recognize your PSP:
1. Turn your PSP on without a game in the console.
2. Scroll to the left so the "Settings" icon is highlighted.
3. Scroll up or down and press X on USB Connection.

Your PC should now detect that the PSP is plugged in and it should show up as a Removable Disc if you were to click your "My Computer" icon.

From there, it is up to you and your PC. There are many variables when it comes to transferring files. Check the manual of your PSP for further assistance.

PC recognizes the psp all the time. I have it plugged in right now. I have tried already 3 things on the gameshark, My pen drive (Fail), PSP (FAIL), Ipod Nano 3g (Fails, and froze Gameshark completely upon removal) Oh wiat I think I know why psp doesn't work! I have this special thing that autoruns and makes the psp icon chagne from the normal thing to something else. I am going to try removing that and see what happens.

Nope I tried it but still the same problem with the PSP. BTW I have a Custom Firmware PSP.

Sorry but I am unable to help you with this problem you are having any further. The least thing I could provide you with is to call Tech Support to further help you with your problem. Remember to call during office hours and they are closed on holidays. Here is the link to them. http://forums.gamesh...hp?showtopic=64

Just an idea, but I was wondering....What is your thumbdrive formatted as? FAT32 or NTFS (or whatever)? Fat32 is compatible with more stuff than NTFS....

I don't think the PS2 would really recognize the PSP or iPod or whatever....

Not sure what is up with the difference between the version listing....

If I was you I'd try this:

1) Make 100% sure that the USB drive you have is recognize by the operating system.
2) Make 100% sure that you plug in your USB drive to the PS2 and see if you can format it that way. Not sure if you can do this since I have yet to try it myself!
3) Make 100% sure that you have a Sony Memory Card with more than 2500KB free inserted into SLOT 1. And that you have no other cards inserted.
4) Allot of USB drives are not compatible with the USB feature of the PS2 Game Shark 2. It is best to use one that has been confirmed to work.

Wait at step 3. Is there supposed to only be 1 memory card inserted when plugging the USB device in O_o

1.) PSP and Pen Drive are bot h recognized by the PC
2.) Well thats a given if you can't do it I probably can't
3.) I have around 5000KB free, It is inserted into slot 1, and no other memory cards are in.
4.) PSP is supposed to work, isn't it? Custom Firmware BTW if that makes any difference

Yes the PSP does work as long as you make 100% sure that the PS2 can see it. To do this try connecting just the PSP via USB cable and try to use it. You will need to make sure that you have the LATEST firmware for your PSP! You also need to make sure that you have a memory card inserted in the psp that has over 2500KB free space. It is best to use the Sony brand!

What do you mean by try to use it? By that do you mean plug it in while the PS2 is at the screen with Browse, or on the Gameshark menu? If it is possible can you post up a video of the entire process, I find videos sometimes easier to follow.

PSP System Information:
System Software: 3.90 M33-3

I FIXED IT YES! The problem was on a different forum:
You can't use firefox to dl the saves or it won't work. I used internet explorer to dl the saves and they worked fine. Now the weird part is when the game starts the cheats don't work for it. BTW the game I am trying to run is Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec (Greatest Hits) if that matters.

The first thing you need to understand that most Greatest Hits tends to be a bug fix version. A bug fix version is where the makers of the game change the coding so things like Cheat devices may not work on it because the memory block has been moved/edited/deleted/changed or could have been used to improve graphics.

When Game Shark Hackers makes codes they only tend to make them for the First version given by the company to make codes for. Game Shark Hackers only release codes for the version(s) that they are given. If the title does not have a version like "Greatest Hits" then they are for the First version of that game!

So, simply put, if you want to cheat please get the First version of the games as those are the ones the Hackers makes codes for! This applies to ALL Game Shark versions that have editions like "Greatest Hits or 1st Edition!

Not all USB Mouses / Keyboards work... This is simply not really clear but:

It only works if the USB Device SUPPORTS PS/2 protocol, too, otherwise it doesnt.

Thats the same with Serial->PS/2 adapters. No Protocol, No function.
